Born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Connon came to Canada in 1852. He invented the film roller in 1881, but his idea was appropriated by an employer of a Toronto supply dealer to whom he had written proposing his idea. These ealier records concern his store in Elora, known as Connon and Henderson (1860-1861). Also includes family papers and accounts. John Smithurst, Anglican missionary with the Church Missionary Society at the Red River Settlement from 1839 to 1851. He worked for the Hudson Bay Company as chaplain at Red River from 1839 to 1840.
